virgin media fibre optic system is the worst internet provider i have used infact it is far worse than the dreaded talk talk. when i first had virgin media installed i couldnt use it at the same time as my son who had his x box ‘on’ now it doesnt work at all (even when x box is ‘off’)its as tho the system cant cope with the demand.also the telephone is more expensive than with talk talk at least you get certain free telephone numbers with talk talk.virgin media just want you to buy boosts etc. and i can never speak to a english person when i ring virgin media customer service.the list of faults with virgin is too long to list in this review box.in my opinion stay well clear of virgin media fibre optic internet
I am a long-time virgin customer and have had the service at two different addresses, and location makes a massive difference, let me tell you. At my former address, I received a marvellous service – no complaints at all. I moved a year ago to a new place to be closer to the University where I teach – unfortunately, I share this location with lots of students and multiple occupancy households. During Summer, when the students go home the service is excellent but as soon as they return, it goes downhill fast. I pay for 20MB, and I get speeds approaching this from July to September but during term-time rarely get above 4MB.
When I complain, I have to echo what others have said – the call centre is useless. Their script seems to insists that they put the blame on the customer’s browser, modem or router setup, when we know that they are choking delivery – on one occasion, after lousy speeds for weeks, I rang up to complain – without any action on my part, the speed mysteriously increased to near maximum half an hour after putting the phone down.
Virgin need to sort out their act when it comes to customer service and in areas of high usage.
VIRGIN BROADBAND IS TERRIBLE.
IT IS SLOW AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ATROCIOUS.
DESPITE THE FAST BROADBAND CLAIMS, IT IS SNAIL SPEED.
THINK 1998 INTERNET SPEED AND YOU’LL BE CLOSE.
VIRGIN BROADBAND IS THAT SLOW. STAY AWAY FROM IT AND GET A BETTER BROADBAND PROVIDER.
I REGRET SIGNING UP WITH THEM
i hav had trouble with vm, my broadband is so slow it is unreal ,phoned call centre the are a waist of time all the do is fob you of the told me ther was a fault from ther end and the wher working on it that was a fortnight ago still got the problem affter phoning them 7times, besides languag problem virgin media need to get ther act sorted out with ther call centre because the are a rubbish service giving you conflicting info
The worst customer service I have ever had. After 2 failed installations, the second time they didnt even turn up I cancelled the service. Customer service are terrible, they just pass you around until you either get fed up or the line goes dead. Over this 6 week period they have disconnected me from my previous broadband so I have no internet access. They typically have no clue what is going on and dont care. Whatever you do dont go with Virgin
i’ve had o problems so far, keep it up
Since Virgin couldn’t even be bothered turning up to install my service, I can’t really comment on the reliability, but I can say that their customer service is appalling. They really didn’t care that I’d taken time off work for their engineer, or that I might have to wait another 10 days with no phone or internet – all of this was my problem, and nothing to do with them.
Luckily I was able to cancel the contract so I’m not stuck with them. O2 have been much better (and cheaper).
I had the Virgin Media service when i was ‘on net’, i.e down the cable using a cable MODEM with Virgin TV services and this was actually not a bad service.
I then moved to a ‘National’ connected property where Virgin couldn’t supply me TV but could do internet down the phone line (ADSL2+). This is apparently an unbundled service is and is terrible!
It is constantly bouncing or being throttled which means I cannot watch iPlayer very reliably at all. I am glad I only signed up for the small download limit because I don’t think I actually download more than 10GB a month!
I have raised several cases with Virgin and the insist on telling me to reconfigure/reboot my router, change my filters, plug directly to the diag port and then close my ticket as if they fixed the issue. One time they actually took my service down completely for 3 days so i just gave up.
I am stuck with this poor service for 12 months but i will for be looking elsewhere as soon as my contract is up.
It is a big thumbs down from me I am afraid.
Absolutely terrible. When signing up for a broadband package, virgin seems to be a good deal because it saves money and there are plenty of flexible options. However the service is horrendous. Web pages take far too long to load and some sites that host videos or stream music don’t load at all. The service also drops quite often and sometimes when I’m in the middle of downloading files the internet simply cuts out and the technical support team didn’t offer any help at all. When I called to ask about what could be done about the service, I wasn’t offered any solutions, instead simply told that my internet shouldn’t be as bad as I was describing, and I seemed to be written off as another disgruntled customer who would just be happy in the end. I have had to call the customer service line at least once or twice every week since I signed up for Virgin media and wish I wasn’t tied to a contract because it is the worst value for money on the market today.
I have just ordered large bb and large tv and weekend calls.
I have heard the horror stories about bb however they are individual stories and in the past I have had no problem with VM.
what I would like to know is if they charge for hd and how much ?
