After months of poor service (both broadband and customer relations), I’m giving up on Virgin and crossing over to BT Infinity. It couldn’t be worse than Virgin. Evening speeds are regularly under 1 MB, nowhere near the 10 I’m paying for, sometimes down to nothing. Several weeks ago, we were completely without broadband for a week. Calling their 151 customer line got me connected to an overseas call centre, where the people seemed to be just working through a series of formulaic responses. After no response to my complaints and no actions to improve service, I’m leaving them to their own devices. Farewell, Richard!
ive recently just connected to 50meg boradband. The woman on the phone i bought the viring package off of said she would deal with getting rid of my AOL broadband package and ive just found it they have done nothing. We didnt get off to the best of starts as the engineers came at 7 o’clock in the evening!. Once it was installed it was fast, we did not know that the connection on wireless would be slower than 50meg and its only the wired connecition that ges the 50meg. We were then discoverd that we could nto recieve incoming calls. We called up and i was spoken to so rudely, held for about 10minutes then transferd etc. Everything about virgin is terrible and i do NOT recomend purchasing it.
Rubbish,I am supposed to get “up to” 20mb but I only get around 3 or 4!! and this is without the Xbox on.
Just becoming progressively worse, frequently shuts down but they will never let on saying its a fault at your end.Supposed to be 10meg but drops down to dial up speed often, that is before it stops altogether. When I first had it ,it wasn’t bad.Now either too many people on my supply and it just gets completely diluted.
Avoid Virgin Media like the plague!!!
All aspects are rubbish and they don’t care..
i try to use my up to 10 mbps braodband and it gives me 0.01mbps and 2222 ping and when the engineer comes he does nothing he says he fixed it but it still only goes 0.01 mbps and but gives me 698-896 ping if thats not bad service i dont know what is thank you for reading my comment
I have had nothing but good experiences with 50MB since having it. There have been a couple of issues but am having it sorted. However the Customer Service is not good when you get through to the Asian Call Center they use.
The connection is perfect though I have no complaints, and to be honest I reckon VM do get some rushed complaints, when People do not know how their connection works etc and might know little about fault finding.
The drop in speeds is due to the contention ratio. ie. the number of connections to the same exchange. usually during the evenings between 5-11pm. it’s the same for ADSL connections.
I have 4 visits from VM technicians so far. The last dug up my pavement and discovered EDF has broken the cable duct and the technicians are not allowed to carry on work due to HV safety issues.
Although I have to put up with slow internet, the 4 visits shows that VM are doing something to try to improve my connection speed.
VM has also assured that my 2 months free deal will be extended untill the cable upgrade is complete.
I would suggest you call VM on 151 or 150 do set up a visit to check your cable. Make sure they log the call in your account. so that they start to keep a record of their shortcomings in service. you need to keep a log too.
I have 10mb broadband from over the year.
I dont know why but sometimes after 17.00 it slomw to 3mb!!!
It’s just 30% of promised speed.
50 meg !!
Sounds exciting, er?
But when you passed the first 7 days (which is the period you can cancel the contract and have your money back, I have absolutely no complain during this period), your speed will be slower than your mobile phone. I could open any youtube video after 6pm, and other websites might work might not. I paid the money for a 50 meg broadband, but I could not even watch a video properly !
Apart from the speed issue, there are many other issues. The connection drops several time a day, some times 5 in a row. When you phone them, they will just ask you to restart the router over over and again, and squeeze more money off your pocket by charge you a lot of money on their customer service line (10 mins, 7 pounds off). They even pretend solving your problem by letting you leason to a 5 mins music.
just had mine triple bundled installed on Sat. although I make it clear to sales I wanted 4 tel points, the man insisted they only install 1. it was £25 for each additional. He refused to install the broadband router to my study which was upstairs saying he did not have time and the signal will be very weak etc. I compromised. Asked him to check the old NTL phone points which worked. then I asked him to leave me the cables and I will run the cables myself to the study. He went to complete another order and returned to checked the installation. all good after that. except. I am on Broadband XL but the speed is only 2-3mbps. the man assured me a new cable will be installed on tue morning to my home. but this of cos was not done. called customer service twice last night as the first time the indian man hung up on me as he kept saying he did not understand! second chap in india did not hang up as i told him if he did. I will call 150 option 4 the next day to cancel! He booked another technician to come this sat. so will let you know the outcome. btw check the contract in the welcome pack. they tried to charge me £49 for HD even though I did not want it!
