I have been having problems with Talk Talk for the past week having been with them for just over a year.Ive phoned to complain about having no Internet for days on end and was passed from pillar to post each time-either getting get cut off or at one stage the person on the other end of the line who should have been helping me-couldnt-because his own computer had crashed!!!Ive spent hours on the phone-getting nowhere-until I finally lost the plot and dug my heels in-saying if the issue wasnt resolved by 9pm at the latest then Id be cancelling my contract and finding a new more reliable provider.Asked several times to talk to a supervisor and was only transferred to one on one occasion. Also found a couple of advisors to be rather condescending suggesting that it couldnt possibly be an issue on TalkTalk’s side-was probabaly my own equipment at fault.I knew it wasnt as all my friends who were on Talktalk were having exactly the same problem as I was having. They made me feel foolish for even suggesting it.I decided to cancel-was then transferred to yet another call centre worker who claimed to be one of the management and promised to get my Internet running smoothly again.So-transferred yet again where an advisor did in 20 minutes what none of the others could manage in almost a week.At the moment its running smoothly-but if I have any problems in the future I wont hesitate in cancelling my contract -Ive found the whole episode stressful and wouldnt reccommend them to anyone
Ive never been with a worse telecommunications company in all my life.
The promises made are false, I was promised if my bills were not any cheaper than BT I would get a £1000.
Never once in 2 years have they been cheaper than BT. The average cost per month was £46, BT with the line rental included was never more than £30.
Was given a special ‘offer’ back in December, in which they reduced my bill by £2 a month, even then my bills were over £40.
I cancelled back in March, was charged up until May for monthly line rental in advance, in which after several telephone calls, was eventually told I didnt owe anything and would not be contacted by them again.
Next thing ive a bill for £54 for early disconnection?? Another phone call later and 17 minutes waiting for the call to be taken, (Wonder how long I would wait if my call were not important to them) and another arrogant phone operator, threatening, and patronising to be left no different and told I must pay it.
Well im not, I will contact the Citizens advice and im also going to write to Watchdog to sort this out. They are intimidating towards people, and I will never EVER use there services again.
Even if it were for FREE
Stay away from Talktalk.
As previously mentioned, they are trouble.
When you want to sign on, the phone line connects almost immediately to a human. but when you want to cancel, you get transferred or put on hold for ever or put through to a voice mail which no one picks up.
Off to Virgin Media now. Will keep this forum updated.
btw. Please check if you are with BT line rental that they have NOT implemented an automatic 12 mth contract renewal on your line.
They did on mine, claiming I gave the the consent back in 2008 and that a notice was sent out a month before renewal. None of these happened of cause.
They say that it was clearly detailed in the monthly bill too. but the bill does not detail when the contract starts or ends.
Anyway, have cancelled my direct debit and have writen a letter of complaint/cancellation to BT.
All I can say is this country is run by Crooks! from MPs down to your phone line provider!
So please protect yourself and be very very careful.
Great difficulty in speaking to anyone at Talk Talk!! When you do get through you speak to someone in India who only takes down the details. Very difficult to get to speak to someone who understands your problem. Not very impressed
Please do NOT sign up with TalkTalk! My internet connection never worked properly and it was never fixed in spite of numerous phone calls to them. Their Customer Service is absolutely dreadful. They have a call centre in India. You can never speak to the same person twice, they people who answer the phones are clueless and they never phone you back when they say they will. They don’t listen to anything you say, pass you around from one department to another and are completely unreasonable! Yesterday one of them put the phone down on me when I insisted on speaking to a manager! Avoid at all costs!!
Talk Talk offer a supposedly good deal, however my experience of the past 3 weeks since my Go Live date with Talk Talk is that I wish I had never left Sky.
My broadband since joining Talk Talk has gone from 1mb+ with Sky to around 170kbs, and that’s when I can actually get online. I have days and days when I can’t get online at all, evenings are terrible. Basically anytime when people will be online, don’t think you will actually get any access – you probably won’t!
Despite four attempts at complaining they never do anything or take it seriously. The call centre staff seem very polite, make all the right noises, but you leave the call without anything changing. When you call up again it appears that there’s no record of your prior conversation with them!
The excuses though are so funny that it does make life brighter somehow – for example I was told that perhaps a new housing estate had been built inbetween me and the exchange in the past 10 days to cause a drain on the broadband since leaving Sky! Just ridiculous.
So.. I have cancelled with Talk Talk and gone back to Sky. Sky charged me £40 reconnection and now Talk Talk are trying to charge me a small fortune in connection charges, advance charges and now a disconnection charge, all of this despite them advertising a “Free 30 day Trial”… Do not believe that you can just walk away inside the 30 day period if it doesn’t work out, in reality you can’t. It has been the most stressful 3 weeks and I have spent 7 hours on the phone to them to sort it out, each time coming away more angry and less satisfied.
My advice is DO NOT LEAVE A PERFECTLY GOOD BROADBAND CONNECTION FOR TALK TALK BECAUSE YOU WILL REGRET IT. If you want a better deal talk to your current provider first.
Actual telephone and broadband service has been reliable although broadband slow at times over 10 years I have subscribed to TalkTalk companies – Onetel, TalkTalk and Tiscali.
Be warned – never deal with these companies!
If you ever need to deal with Customer Services, change package or cancel, be prepared to lose several years from your life expectancy. They are impossible!
I have had Customer Services cut calls off after waiting ages to get through and I have just been advised of an £83.00 disconnection fee because of some undocumented contract which they claim I entered into 12 months ago.
I have been with them 10 years!!!
Don’t go anywhere near them, even if you have to pay slightly more. If you do, don’t deal over the phone – get contracts in writing and beware of “rollover”.
While talktalk have a good priced package, thats where it all ends sadly. If you need to talk to someone in the U.K use these numbers:
[contact details removed at TalkTalk request]
One is the director and deputy director/ of complaints and are very nice people.I use it every few months as before i used ofcom so was given these numbers instead as complaints cost them dearley with ofcom.I hope this helps everyone.
Have had no internet access since 1/07/10. when i rang to complain and said i was being charged for a service i was not getting i was told “you dont pay for it anyway”. I recently moved house and was told i could not break my contract, in fact a new 18month contract would start (omg!) My go live date was last Thursday. suprise – NO INTERNET ACCESS and VERY BAD RECEPTION on the phone ! I would not recommend TALK TALK to my worst enemy.
Stay well clear! I was with Tiscali and (relatively) happy until Talk Talk took over. Since then I have been pestered almost weekly with unwanted phone calls trying to get me to sign up to their telephone services. I have told every caller not to phone again but this falls on deaf ears.I phoned for a MAC code the other day, once I’d taken all I could take from them, and again I was hit with a sales pitch. I eventually got my MAC code and felt relieved to nearly have rid myself of Talk Talk for good but no, a call the next day trying to sell me more services!!! I wonder how many customers they loose by trying to get more out of them? One more week until my switch over and I’ll be free (I hope!)
