A bland company, set up by BT to try and capture the market for people who do not trust large organisations. Don’t be fooled. There is nothing Honest Yorkshire about Plusnet. if things go okay – fine. if not, forget it, leave the country and train a rabbit to send messages. It will be quicker. Plusnet will go on feeding you excuses – some truly ridiculous – until you surrender and contemplate joining a monastic order. Be warned. Avoid Plusnet if you value your sanity
Switched to PlusNet from Virgin Media 2 months ago now.
Could not be happier. Connection is fast and rock steady – everything Virgin‘s wasn’t. Funny that given Virgin Media claimed it was my internal phone line and wanted £150 to step over the door !!
And I’m paying £6.50 a month instead of £15.30 Now that is true Yorkshire value.
Only 14 hours ? More like days from my experience.
Maybe not as bad as Talk Talk – but not far.
OK if all is up and running – cheaper to leave the country if anything crashes though !
Plusnet is another BT-owned company, and the Indians are easier to understand !
Plusnet are just fine until you have a technical problem – from there onwards its a case of “D.I.Y.”
The twerps even demanded I go out and purchase a new Router, new Filter ( OK – that’s reasonable ) and PROVE to Plusnet that any fault did not lie with MY equipment ( HOW ? ) – even though I said I would happily pay any BT Engineers’ charge. ( I eventually found the fault in the BT line-box, but had by then demanded my MAC code and instigated a move back to the equipment owners BT – deal direct with the idiots is simpler than using an intermediary idiot ).
Followed two months of HELL, but at least “Direct Hell” – don’t think you’ll ever get a refund from BT though – I still have a cheque for 34 pence from BT for the last time they stuffed my connection for over a month !
Sometimes think it would be a better option to bite the bullet and “Go Satellite” ? Internet outside major UK cities is still a total FARCE ! Any views ??
My advice is forget about PlusNet! This company is a rip-off. I signed up for a 12 months service because I wanted to have international calls included in my broadband and phone package. Well, after few month they just decided to remove the international calls from the package, without even reducing the monthly price!!!!! How come a company can, before the end of the minimum 12 months agreement, just change the conditions, offer less service for the same price? Everyone who had this package has been affected by this and we are forced to keep paying for a service is no longer of our interest, because the international calls deal was basically the main reason why I signed up for PlusNet. Terrible…
rubbish service, slow speed, slow transfur rate and no good for playing games online.
Tricky Dicky Company!! Be warned.
Must be very careful working with Plusnet. They are not very professional. Support team is a joke. They will apologize for their billing errors but will never recompense you. Very disgusting behavior.
Having been on TalkTalk – moved because of cheaper price offers, and also believed some of their sales pitch I’m now back with plus.
Transfer went well, Router is up to the job (not the wimpy one you get from TalkTalk).
Helpdesk always have replied to my queries and did so this time.
Worried about other comments on this site, but all I can say that if you have problems read up the TalkTalk comments!
Do not be tricked by the low price!!
Hi all, just add a couple of my own thoughts:
I have just cancelled my Plusnet, and with very good reason. I highly recommend you trust me when I say that the hidden extra charges and mercenary way in which Plusnet try to maximize their profits just makes it not worth getting hooked by the low price tag.
For 1 month broadband with Plusnet I actually ended up paying considerably more than any other supplier!
30 pound setup fee. + 13 pounds extra because they don’t accept cancellations in writing (despite what is written in T&C) + 15.00 extra charges for exceeding my cap limit (that I was never informed of) + 30 pounds cancellation charge.
Also their customer service have a really uncaring attitude and are slow to reply.
Guys, it’s just not worth it.
Very poor. Reliability not hot.
One problem after another.
The latest is they have charged me for an anti-virus service I do not have and in fact have an email from them confirming that. Sent them all the documentation. Doesn’t do one bit of good. Plusnet do not listen. Appalling call centre
But I can’t get them to reply to my questions.
They say on their site the time is 2 hours 7 minutes to reply. I’ve waited fourteen hours and still they do not reply and remove the charge
No faith in them. Very bad service. All PR and no customer care
Keep well clear
