READ FOR SOME HONEST TRUTH ABOUT O2 BROADBAND SERVICE
i am absolutely shocked at their service. honestly… let me explain very thoroughly.
i just came out of uni so i am very wary of where my money goes. i do heaps of research just to find the best deal out there. in terms of speed, value for money etc etc.
o2 seemed the best because i am on o2 contract and would account for the £5 discount.
on the 23 september 2010, i ordered the all rounder and because my flat is a new build, i had to get a new phone line in. they charge £85 just to activate a line…shocking. there is not installing involved. (i did try my best to get it cheaper else where)
so on the 23rd of september, the sales rep told me that the earliest time possible would be 29th october. that already is past a month just to get someone to activate a phone for me. i live in the city so its not like its hard to get to me.
although i thought this was a long wait, i decided to hold on for another month for the net. around the 23rd of october i get a call from o2 telling me that i have to push my installation date back because open reach, the bt phone installers will be delayed. they tell me the next available date is 8th november. as oyu can imagine im furious that it has to take them a whole extra week just to “activate” a phone line. of course there is nothing i can do..so i accept.
i do call back however and complain, and the rep offers me another month free of net. at first im happy im getting anything out of this. but feel its absolute rubbish just another month and call again and speak to a “manager” who then offers me another 6 months free. i ask for a email confirmation of this, but i am told they dont do this ( which they do as i have proof of one they sent me previsouly)
i decide to call back in the next couple of days just to make sure that 6 months is still there on my account…it is. however..i call back again in a few days and apparently i dont get 10months free at all!!! its just 4 months..the deal i was initially offered. terrible!!! the guy on the phone doesnt get a manager..but decides to just give me 12 months free worth of net.
of course i am happy about this and decide to accept. i also ask him when i can actually get my net up and running. he tells me, ” open reach which install phone line on 8th of novemner and then i either go live on that day or the next day”
nonsense!
I CALL AGAIN: someone else tells me that i will be activated on friday 12th november…i asked ot be called back to clarify this as i feel its again way to long to wait.
i get a call today from the rep telling me that now the phone line is live, they will activate my internet on the 15th november!!!
at that point i couldnt believe it. i actually was shocked and thought he was pulling my leg. i asked to speak to a manager but was told no one was available, as they were all in meetings ( nonsense) and scheduled a call back.
honestly, they kept me on their service with all this “extra month free” nonsense so i wouldnt take my business else where.
I wish I saw previous comments before signed with O2.
We had an apointment with engeneer for 11 Nov, today we received from O2 email:
#Our engineer came to set up your new telephone line and you were out. So we might need to charge you.
To set up a new appointment, call us on 0800 230 0202.
If we don’t hear from you in 10 working days, we’ll have to cancel your order.
And remember: you won’t be able to use your home phone and broadband until we’ve set up your line.
Best regards,
F G

How pathetic is that?
Called them (o2), and now BT‘s engeneer will come at 29th of November
))
So, one month and a half without the internet in 21st century.
I wish FG knows about this “SUPERB” service.
I have only browsed over a few reviews which seemed quite negative. Everyone has different experiences with companies but I cannot fault O2. The internet has (touch wood) never failed / been down after a year of use. It is consistant and extremely reliable. It was very easy to set up with no fuss and is good value for money considering it’s one of the cheapest on the market.
Although I haven’t had to contact O2 in relation to broadband, I am an O2 phone customer and have been impressed by their customer service. On phoning I spoke with someone straight away and I was able to change my phone contract type by email which I think is an excellent idea, avoiding any hard sell or excessive charges.
I hope the service continues to please but with experiences so far I would recommened them to anyone.
Engineer never arrived, and when O2 was contacted, they did little resolve the problem. It took them 6 days to even contact me regarding a new appointment, and even then they said it would take another 3 days to get an actual date. Cancelled order after nearly 10 days of being passed from pillar to post on the telephone. The worst Customer Service experience of my life. AVOID.
O2 broadband maybe cheap for O2 mobile customers – but apparently you get what you pay for – it is quite simply the worst customer experience I have ever encountered.
We ordered the connection and got all confirmed, waited 10 working days, phoned up to check on the progress. ‘We’re out of stock of routers, will dispatch soon’. Then chased again 5 days later. ‘Your router has been dispatched to your address’.
Another chase up call 5 working days later ‘we’ve got no record of your order, it appears to have been cancelled by our system’.
1 month in total and we’ve gone backwards. Avoid at all costs is my advice. Don’t set yourself up to suffer like we have. Appalling.
For 8 months after the 2nd week of being with O2 I started to get slow download speeds (ie 5kbs to 15kbs) this was not with P2P but general FTP and other various protocols. After many months of calls to the tech support and connecting various routers to check and re-check the line I built a spreadsheet of connections, download and upload speeds. Over the 8 months I had 6 occasions in total that I had broadband speeds. When O2 finally sorted out the issue I had broadband once again. Sadly after 2 months of normal speeds they sent me a nice email stating that if I don’t stop using the bandwidth as much, they will disconnect my account. At this point that email was basically the straw that broke the donkeys back. BEWARE!!
If anyone goes to O2 Broadband and has to have the access package please just check your speeds with http://www.speedtest.net and http://www.thinkbroadband.com
O2 Customer service is useless. The telephone part of my contract charges me for calls to 03 numbers when I ring I am told they know about the problem and will refund charges. This is never done. Broadband speed not as high as they state. I now have ten and a half months before I can leave O2 signing up with them was a BIG mistake
I signed up for O2 and was told I had 30 days initially where speed checks would be done and if the speeds were ok I can continue in contract, however if they were not up to scratch I had a choice to cancel – I thought this was very fair. Within that 30 days The speeds were exactly as we were told and we were happy! shortly after the 30 day period had elapsed I had an email from o2 saying they were capping everyone’s usage because of heavy downloaders, but by this time I was already tied in – funny how they waited until I couldnt get out of the contract! My speeds vary from half a mg to 4 mg if we’re lucky and it is takes hours to download anything! Im really disapointed with them! I called them numerous times and said Im not paying £17 per month for half a mg??? they basically said there was nothing I could do and if i wanted to cancel I would be liable for charges!! Would not recommend to anyone!
Just simply excellent all round….BEST ISP EVER!!!
O2 is good at times. But not when you have an issue.
Especially when they depend on BT land line, its very difficult and time consuming to fix issues. They just put blame on BT. Better move out to a better broadband. Enough with them. I am in dark.
