Just received phone call stating I have exceeded 30MB in July and this breaks there fair usage policy, although doesn’t say what the limit is in the policy. Now having my service terminated for exceeding this unpublished limit and they are sending me a MAC code to go somewhere else. Avoid O2 at all costs, just a load of sales hype promising unlimited broadband which it certainly is not.
I do alot of online gaming, console and pc and have great connection with O2. I had a little trouble at first but since then it’s been perfect, no trouble at all. I have a friend who has 20 meg broadband with sky and he is always having trouble with the connection. I can go online with my console and laptop at the same time with no problems.
Yes, all nice but you need to be careful with their misleading “unlimited” offer. After you reach 20GB usage per month you will start receiving phone calls regarding exceeding your usage in comparison to other users, bladi bla and you need to reduce the usage, otherwise you’ll get 30 days notice of terminating the connection and live-ban for O2 broadband usage. It’s like in China or North Korea.
I’ve used a variety of different ISP’s in the last few years but I safely have to say, o2 is the worst ISP I have ever used in my life, the speeds are pathetic, constant disconnects for no reason, its impossible to play any kind of online game, your ping is just constantly through the roof.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with my phoneline, i’ve tested my router on hundreds of occasions, done quiet line checks, tried changing to a static IP and it does nothing to affect the speed.
o2 give you the same crap of the walls excuse of ‘too far from the exchange’ when its literally about a 1/4 of the mile down the road from my house.
the fact is, the only reason i’m getting problems like this is because of o2.
dont even go there people, you WILL be dissapointed and o2 will cause more frustration than service.
After being with o2 for nearly a year now all I can say is that thank god my contract is up. I took out the contract on the understanding that because I was an existing mobile phone customer I would get a discount, well nearly a year on and still no discount. Speed is atrocious. Got the usual excuse about “distance from the telephone exchange” etc. I am so close to the exchange that I can see it from my window !! Speed got so bad at one point I actually used my mothers, and she’s still on dial up for god sake (rural area).Don’t be fooled by the “unlimited” tag either,it’s not. I was sent a letter explaining that I was using the Internet too much and when I questioned this the old “fair usage excuse was used. I asked what the limit was and they wouldn’t say.Don’t go there guys,it’s pathetic
when its working. its fine. within the first week we got it. it packed up. so we got the box replaced. its now fine, but the internet constantly goes, and tends not to work most times, i would avoid buying o2. to bad were stuck in a contract :/
Have just signed up with 02 and feel like Christmas has come early! What a fantastic service. I can hardly dare to believe it can be this good, particularly after the nightmares suffered through virgin media. So far all promises have been kept, friendly customer service and even got hooked up earlier than expected.
o2 no longer offer an unlimited service, even though they advertise as such, the “fair usage policy” is a pathetic 10-15gig a month now. This is not quoted in writting at all but well known by all o2 broadband staff. Not only do they kick you off for downloading more than 10gig a month they WILL make mistakes with billing and direct debits and will more than likly not be able to fix any problems on the line for at least 2-3months, even if you tell them very clearly how to fix it (ie, ask BT for a ip profile refresh). The only plus point is the low cost compared to other ISP’s but at £17.50-22.50 a month this isn’t really that low.
Unlimited downloads do not apply on adsl ,they kick you off if you use more that 30 gig
Go Virgin
O2 don`t give the service they advertise.
Read the very small print.
