When we originally tried to get a BT line installed we had to wait 5 and a half months – not the best start. The service itself is quite reliable once it’s going, though nothing spectacular. We have now moved to a new house and were expecting another few months of faffing, though thankfully we only had to wait a week this time, and we were quite excited at the prospect of 13mbps speeds after BT tested the line… only to find that our Broadband speed is a whopping 2.5mbps. I want rid of BT – their customer service is the worst of any I have experienced, and being lied to is the last straw (that’s right folks – there WAS no line for them to test!) My advice : AVOID.
BT broadband user over 10 years on the highest tarrif. been satisfied over that period until i moved house overall been in this property nearly a year and have had nothing but noise issues connection issues dropping loss of speed poor connection you name it near enough it has happend. line has been changed to a different cabinet, mutiple shift and lifts, endless amounts of engineers and we will say nothing about the call centres that have enough problems speaking english let alone attempting to rectify the fault. you tell them what is wrong, you give them all the information and data, you request an enchanced job which gives greater length of time for the job, you keep a log of everything the engineers have done, you give them all that information and they still dont fix it, you cannot complain to anybody because they do not have a compliants department. just because they are a big conglomerant, they seem to think that they do not need to supply a customer service. What a joke, maybe they want to listen to their customers. instead of putting their call centres in a foreign country
I have just cancelled my BT broadband after a long struggle to get them to recognise that their offering is quite simply unusable on my phone line. They have tried many times to get to the bottom of the intermittent noise problems. After much discussion with the helpdesk this included swapping the line over to a different “pair” both at my side of the cabinet and also (apparently) all the way back to the exchange. The main reason why I am giving up on them is that their systems that manage the “IP profile” (also known as “bRAS profile”) which throttle the download speed, are completely unintelligent. IOf you have a number of blips in synchronisation seed you can be stuck to a profile of 135 kbps or 250 kbps download. This is even though the problem has gone away and you synch speed is over 3Mbps. It takes a long call to the helpdesk in Chennai and then a wait of up to 48 hours after that for the situation to be corrected. This is completely unnecessary but they don;t realise that poor software design is losing them customers!
rubbish customer service Have had major connection issues for over 5 months have reported it more times than i can count at least once a week get told its a gaming issue with playstation so explain it is also on my computer still not there fault.
Get told i will have a call back never call. Put in formal complaint no response am now leaving there service as they are a rip off lets hope new provider is better at least saving £40 a month
I had BT boadband and it works exatlty how is saying on adverting jus everything oposite: no internet on peek times what so ever and is very slow.
Im glad you think so your one of the lucky ones i have just been given a new connection date and guess what on top of the month i have been waiting i have been told it can take up to 2 weeks before they will even know if i can be connected. WFrustrated is not the word i have already paid my first bill and still no broadband lol they quick to take money although i have been told im getting a refund watch this space.
It does what it says on the tin.
well i joined bt a month ago today i purchased option 1 as i was told that that would be the best option for me and that i would have the fastest speed 20 summit. well its been a month and i still havent been connected when i call customer service they never really listen to wh at i say they speak over you dont give you the chance to explain and before you know it they cancelling orders then reordering them this has happend three times so far and no one can give me a straight answer as to when i will be connected to my broadband. i have made over 30 hrs worth of phone calls in the last three weeks with a total of about 50 phone calls and im still no wiser as to when or if at all my broadband will be connected. i dont want to cancel my order as i believe that the service bt offer sounds alot better than the rest although i still have to experience this. anyway i hope im conncected soon. GOOD LUCK with you order. Im antiscipating around another month before anything is close to been sorted.
Speed I have to say is a bit disappointing, around 3meg (if that) when its alleged to be 8meg. I’m uneasy about customer service, as it seems fairly clear that BT do not expect to be bothered unless you have proved 100% that any issues are their fault. Having said that, I haven’t needed any support as it’s been so reliable.
I dreaded getting Broadband and put it off for ages because I was sure it would be a nightmare getting it to work. I limped along on dial up for years. Finally a special offer made me feel I may as well.
I didn’t use the install disk, I did a manual install. Everything worked. This was a nice surprise as my mum’s AOL, using an install disk, wouldn’t work and a PC technician had to be called out. But for me, no problems
It does drop at intervals and come back. I don’t see this as much of an issue, although I know some people do get irritated about it. Apart from that, I don’t ever remember a problem, any sort of problem, or any sort of fault, except for when a van parked on a footway joint box and cut my phone off.
If you’re after a dead reliable ISP, not especially fast, and not especially cheap, then yes I’d recommend them. But they aren’t budget, or lightning fast, although I gather they are launching a faster service, nominally 20meg.
i recently changed to BT for broadband and so far have been very pleased,on ordering everything was explained and emails followed suit, everything arrived on the day and i was informed when my service was active, setting up was very easy and i had no problems,i just rang tech support for help on configuring the powersave option as i couldnt get back into settings after changing the password,i was connected right away and the lady i spoke to was very friendly and efficient and talked me through resetting very quickly and of course the call is free so no stress there,it is a little more expensive but after being with my last isp(nightmare)i am happy to pay more for a good service,i think where isps are concerned you get what you pay for,i can recomend them.
