Thanks guy’s i appreciate your comments,i think i know who my next provider could be. BE
Excellent all round service 10/10
be are 10/10 swap to them now!!!!!!! my old speed with aohell was 0.98dl and 0.2up
now with be i get 9.5dl and 2.1 upload
I was very dissapointed with my service with Be, in the end we moved our connection over to smithmediagroup as they offer a decent service and are very open to customers, unlike BE, I think it’s the larger companies which dont seem to care about customers! Get away from them fast!!!!
After an initial problem signing up, the connection charge was waived. Connection was prompt and speed was what BT predicted, following a check with BT Broadband.
Apart from a brief outage of the email server, I have had no problems at all (other than of my own making).
Their help lines are 0808, but I have never needed to phone since connection.
My only – trivial- problem is that Opera doesn’t display their Sign-out button so it can be clicked on.
I now have a WLAN for less cost than my previous provider.
I found that Be’s service overall is great. If you want speed, you’ve come to the right place, but don’t keep your hopes built on the wireless router as it’s speed slows from 54Mbps as soon as there are around four PCs connected. Also, the setup procedure begins in a straightforward manner but to complete it you require an ethernet connected computer otherwise you’ll have to put up with a lot of trouble! My advice is that you buy your own ADSL 2+ router if you plan to connect more than two computers and/or are an intensive user.
One of the main troubles I had when I was setting up my router was the fact that I had chosen a static IP, and that the details of this (gateway etc) were not included in the documentation, and so I had to call them. Their technical support is good, and although it is somewhere abroad, the people’s voices are clear and they understand what you mean beyond the script.
My Be Box arrived on my activation day, although I had received an email saying that there was a slight possibility that it could be late, so they will automatically refund one month’s service plus two days of unused internet to all of the customers affected next bill. I also received the opportunity to cancel free of charge, but had the Be Box been late, I already have ADSL 2+ hardware in place.
Overall, if you want speed and you live relatively near to the exchange, its great. Don’t assume your speed is going to be excellent, as your performance isn’t as the crow flies – the cable may go round several roads in your neighbourhood before it reaches your street’s telephone mast. However, beware that email and webspace is charged in groups of five accounts at £2/month. Upload speed is generally excellent, and download speed is relatively good for my proximity to the exchange.
Well, I decided to sign up on Monday (got my MAC code from BT the same day (after some gentle persuasion), and I was connected by Friday (delayed a few hours because of a BT foul up…..as per usual from what I understand).
By Friday teatime my broadband was flying and my downloads from usenet were hurling themselves down my phone line at the rate of 2.6mb per sec…..a 700mb movie in 6 mins anyone?
It costs the same as my BT OPTION 3 8mb connection…£24 pm unlimited downloads, so it was a bit of a no brainer…..SO IF YOU CAN, YOU SHOULD!
It’s the best switch I’ve ever done
I shopped around for some time when making my decision. I went for Be because of the unlimited downloads, however every aspect of their service is incredible. I was sent text messages throughout the ordering process to let me know how it was coming along. Setup was a doddle.
Best of all is the speed – even though I am on the value package I am clocking up 3 or 4 times the speed of my old BT Broadband connection (admittedly this was at an old address so perhaps that has something to do with it). Fantastic customer service too – literally a faultless service. Highly recommended.
I recently joined Be Unlimited Broadband on their 24Mb Unlimited package.
I highly recommend them, they connected me very quickly (within 5 days) and their supplied wireless router is pretty good. they also sent me text messages at every step which was nice.
Although I only get 10Mb out of the theoretical 24Mb i am very happy with the speed and reliability of the connection.
there also does not appear to be any restrictions on what you can use the connection for either.
Although I live quite close to the exchange I get around 10 meg with be, probably due to the old copper cables, With my previous ISP, the best I got was around 2 meg.
I just cannot fault BE at all. Customer service is top notch. Set up was painless and I was constanly kept up to date by text. They still text me to inform me when payment will be taken out of my account. And the short 3 month contract is a bonus (not that I would like to leave).
I was even given a discount on my bill a few months back simply because it was my birthday!
So overall, superb in terms of performance and customer service. I would recommend BE to everyone. Simply excellent!
