Firstly can i just say that 3 mobile broadband has been quite possibly the WORST broadband i have ever had the misfortune of being tied down to!! If you are going to get 3 broadband you are taking a gamble. The reason i say this is that according to 3, where i live i have good signal for broadband, however within half of my property i have absolutely NO signal whatsoever and cannot use my laptop in these parts of my home.

If that's good signal then i would hate to see what life would be like with a bad signal???.....Connection, terrible. You could be in the middle of browsing or even playing an online game and all of a sudden connection will go and take the best part of 10 minutes trying to get it back. Very very frustrating. And depending on where and how you position the dongle affects your connectivity..what the hell's that all about???

I think it's highly unfair as a consumer that simply because you have signed on the dotted line you are responsible for a service, that lets be honest, works maybe 40% of the time? It's not on. Thankfully i have only one more month with 3 broadband and i tell you NEVER AGAIN. All i can say is give 3 mobile broadband an incredibly wide berth, unless you have a penchant for paying for services that you don't actually get!

I initially purchased the 3 mobile broadband for my boyfriend, and got it for half price as I also purchased a mobile phone account with them at the same time.

Both packages were incredibly good value, so although I was disappointed to find that the service did not work from my boyfriend's address, I continued to use the broadband at my address, as I was experiencing problems with the broadband provider I was using at the time.

Setup with the USB stick was a doddle, which is high praise indeed from someone like me who struggles with a remote control!
Connection is very reliable and speed is usually good for browsing, which is my main usage.
I haven't needed to use customer service yet and so cannot vouch for their service levels.
However, if you decide to purchase the package through a cashback site, don't hold your breath for the cashback as it may be take some time to be paid.

All in all, if you have double-checked that 3 works in your area (get it in writing if necessary) you will find 3 mobile broadband particularly good value and user friendly. If you are shopping for a new phone deal too, getting the two together makes perfect sense.

I joined 3 Mobile Broadband in November 2007. At first I noticed that despite it being 'mobile' I got very poor connection reception when out and about. At home I would find that the connection would work in some places around the house but not in others. Even in a particular room there are many areas where there is no connection.
I have found that the connection reception over the last few months has gotten progressively worse. I can illustrate by explaining that whilst I am typing this review I have so far had to reconnect 7 times and even now the light on the 'dongle' modem has gone off (blue) again. Often I have to hold the modem 'dongle' in the air with one hand like an old aerial inorder to get a signal to connect. I PROMISE IT IS THAT BAD. My hand helps boost the reception but it hurts my hand... THINK IT COULD BE THE RADIATION, GOD KNOWS THE MODEM GETS HOT!
The speed itself when working is not bad... when it is working.
If you exceed your usage allownace you get charged a lot. I pay £15 a month for 3GB. I went over by about 200MB and got charged an additional £50. Worse, they called me a liar when I told them I had not received a warning email as normal when nearing the allowance limit.
I will not be renewing my contract and count the days till I can leave. Only 8 more months!!
MY ADVICE IS "AVOID 3 MOBILE BROADBAND"

I signed up to 3 Broadband Plus earlier this week. I am using the Huawei E169G modem. The past few days have been a nightmare. Choppy connection, very slow speeds, constant disconnects and terrible reception. I own a 3 mobile phone and was previously using my phone as a modem and even it recieved better reception/speeds at 156 kbps. Peak times were the worst of course, but even at 4am the connection was still very choppy and unreliable. Also, the man who sold it to me lied and said it was £10 per gig overusage when infact it works out to be £10 per 100mb overusage(this was phones4u). That aside, I rearranged my entire living room and moved my computer right next to my big bay window and shoved the modem as close to the window as I could. The reception is better and so far the speeds/reliability has been better. It still has a slightly choppy connection which I imagine will get worse closer to peak times. I would not recommend using this modem, I myself cant afford a phone line and cable broadband isnt offered in my area so this was my only choice. When it works, it works well. But unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working that often. A decent and cheap choice for someone in my situation but if you have other options, I would suggest going for them.

I spent some time with 3 as a customer of their phone service and I swore I would never go back to them. When they offered PAYG broadband, the reason I went back is I would not be tied to an 18/24 month contract and if it was **** all I would have lost is the 49.99 cost of the dongle which I would bin and cursed myself for not sticking to my guns. I have a lot of spare time away from home and was looking for internet without the high cost of wi-fi from a hotel etc. Well I have been absolutely delighted with this product, superfast reliable broadband. It took about 3 minutes to set up and once you figured out how to convert a 10 pound top up voucher into a broadband add on, hey presto streaming video with just the odd break up. 3 claim to have the most extensive broadband in the country and at the present time I would have to agree.
