Tackle World Cup Fine Fears Without Fear of Penalties says Marshal CEO

The TV Licencing Authority has announced plans to raid UK businesses whose employees watch World Cup matches broadcast by the BBC over broadband, without the appropriate TV licence. Companies falling foul of the regulatory body could incur fines of up to £1,000.

According to Marshal’s (www.marshal.com) CEO, Ed Macnair, this is just another example of regulatory compliance, which can be easily tackled using appropriate web-filtering technology.

"Companies have to be able to treat their employees as responsible adults, without exposing themselves to the risk of penalties." He says. "There are three options open to companies that want to do everything in their power to comply, without putting a dampener on the World Cup festivities: buy a licence; ban employees from watching the games on their PCs, or employ software that restricts access to certain websites (including the BBC) at specific times of day."
