Nildram Extends its Broadband to 8Mbps

Last updated: Wednesday, February 01, 2006 10:42:00 AM GMT

Nildram has more than doubled the number of exchanges included in its 8Mb broadband trial, enabling even more businesses to upgrade to a high-speed service and benefit from technologies such as voice calls over the Internet and remote working. As part of the BT Max programme, successful uptake of the faster broadband has lead to the increase of available exchanges from 25 to 53.

With most of the current services running on 1Mb or 2Mb, Nildram is now able to extend its capabilities and provide customers with the latest must-have technologies. As the trial now incorporates business packages, companies can benefit from the super-fast 8Mb service, enabling them to send and receive large files, have faster access to information for all employees and cut costs whilst increasing productivity.

"As faster and faster speeds are becoming available, this is such an exciting time for us and our users," comments Sean Stephenson, managing director, Nildram. "By extending our services we hope to be offering speeds of up to 24Mb later in the year. This is fantastic news for our customers who are getting access to applications and technologies that faster broadband brings."

As part of the trial, Nildram aims to ensure that existing DSL services can be upgraded to higher speeds, initially 8Mb, without changes to the configuration.
