New product: High Bandwidth Networking Using Existing Domestic Wiring

Last updated: Tuesday, January 31, 2006 12:02:00 PM GMT

devolo will be showcasing its new HomePlug AV at CeBIT2006. The new product offers transfer rates of 200Mbps and ADSL2+ technology for HDTV, triple-play services and high speed home networking over existing household electrical wiring.

With download speeds of 25Mbps expected to be available to households, the HomePlug AV standard will enable users to benefit from high speed Internet access and triple play services such as HDTV, video on demand and Internet telephony in their own homes.

The HomePlug AV standard has the bandwidth to support full multimedia home networking throughout the whole house. With transfer rates of 200Mbps, the HomePlug can support HDTV video-streaming, Voice Over IP and high speed Internet, in addition to PCs, DSL modems, games consoles and set-top boxes.

The powerful functionality is combined with ease of use - the HomePlug adaptor is a plug and play solution which can be used wherever there is a wall socket, acting just like a physical network cable, streaming bandwidth to any room in the house.

The HomePlug offers proven advantages over both traditional Ethernet cabling and WLAN, removing the need to install extra wiring throughout the house and unaffected by any reduction in transmission quality, which can often be caused by walls and ceilings when operating on wireless networks.

devolo will be showcasing the powerful functionality of the HomePlug AV standard at this year's CeBIT, demonstrating its high transfer rates and smooth transmission of HDTV. devolo will also be launching its new range of DSL products, which feature ADSL2+ capable modems, multi-port routers, integrated firewalls and WLAN access points.
