Avonline, the UK’s Leading Rural Satellite Broadband provider, is Taking its Mobile Broadband Service on the Road in Wales

Avonline’s Tooway 3.6 Mbps Broadband Service provides fast, reliable broadband anywhere in the UK

(Vocus) October 19, 2010

In rural areas where there is either unreliable or slow broadband service or worse still, no service at all, Avonline has been passionately committed to providing customers a fast broadband connection today, wherever they live. Benefitting from the Welsh Assembly’s Broadband Support Scheme this summer, a grant of up to £1,000 is available to homes where a basic broadband connection of at least 512 kilobits a second is unavailable. Through Avonline, customers who qualify for the grant also get their first 3 months service free followed by a monthly service fee of just £24.99.

Since the scheme was launched, over 350 customers have submitted applications to the Welsh Assembly for grants to install Avonline’s Tooway Satellite Broadband. To increase the awareness and knowledge of the opportunities offered by the Broadband Support Scheme and to show how Avonline can provide customers in rural areas with a fast, reliable and good value service, Avonline is taking their purpose built mobile satellite vehicle on the road. Together with a Canadian Technology company, C-Com, Avonline has developed this mobile solution for demonstrating their Tooway Satellite Broadband product. The VW van has a retractable satellite dish installed on its roof which, at the press of a button, will locate the satellite providing broadband browsing anywhere.

Craig Roberts, Avonline’s Broadband Services Manager said, “We’re looking forward to getting out to the Welsh community to show them how easy it is for them to get fast reliable broadband services through satellite.”

He continued, “At Avonline, we have campaigned for wider access to broadband for rural communities for many years. We already have a strong customer base across Wales who rely on our broadband service”.

Recently Avonline helped Beverley McCartney from Salem, near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire get broadband. Having just been quoted £150,000 by BT to provide her with a broadband service, Avonline installed her satellite solution the same week.

Avonline will be at Tesco Extra in Llanelli for 2 days week commencing 25th October 2010, followed by Morrisons in Carmarthen in November. Check local press for details.

Avonline’s broadband installation consists of a satellite dish plus a modem. In addition, the Tooway service has the ability to deliver a money saving telephone service (VoIP) and now has the added value option of receiving Freesat High Definition digital television services from the same satellite dish
