About Link Exchanges

Our Policy on Link Exchanges & Search Engine Optimisation

Introduction

You might be wondering why we don't have a traditional "favorite links" page. This page explains our policy on link exchanges with other sites and so called "Search Engine Optimisation" (SEO).

Background

Have you ever used a search engine and found the sites that it returns are simply little more than a couple of pages containing advertising? One of the reasons for the recent proliferation in these "junk" sites is the abuse of SEO.

One technique used in SEO is for web sites to "exchange" links to each other in an effort to boost both websites in the search engine rankings.

Our Policy on Links

It is our fundamental belief that SEO (link exchanges in particular) is detrimental to the quality of information returned in search engines.

Therefore, we no longer carry a "Links" page and do not participate in "Link Exchanges".

We do, however, include links back to other sites in relevant features and articles. This adds real value to our users by providing links to useful external resources. More information can be found here.
