When I signed up I just pay every month. I am not entirely sure though! How would I find out if I have a contract?

My ISP = Demon

RE: Overpriced Broadband?

So if my provider changes prices I can call them up and ask them to change the price? That seems pretty good. I do not know if it would work, but I might try it the next time they run a special.

RE: Overpriced Broadband?

This is one of the things that drives me crazy. You have to take your lumps as this is how they make money. I have had good luck in the past when seeing new rates for new customers in calling in and asking for my rate to be adjusted. If the person will not do it, I will call back a few times and try to get someone else to make the change.

RE: Overpriced Broadband?

Why they make it so you have to have a contract anyways? It is not like a cell phone. I wish they had pre-paid broadband. Can you do that? What if I buy my own modem can I then not have to have a contract?

Overpriced Broadband?

Just read this report about broadband in the UK. It goes in line with the issue some people have had getting stuck into their broadband contracts.

The difference between the costliest and best value broadband packages can be as much as £456 per year.

Some advice from the article said:

There are two main areas where consumers should be looking to save money: Firstly, they should ensure that they are only paying for the connection speed that they need, as this can save them up to £180 per year; and secondly that they are with the cheapest supplier for their chosen connection."

http://www.myfinances.co.uk/household/it-telephony/phones-broadband/overpriced-broadband-costing-brits-40m-$15136689.htm
