| Actually there are alot of people that still have to cope with a dial up connection. People that live on new housing estates or live in deserted areas that cant get dial up have to settle with the 56k. There are still alot of providers for 56k and the prices seem to be more expensive these days: AOL: £15.99 BoltBlue: 5.99 BT: 36.00
these are all different deals and there prices range alot i just picked there lowest to show you some examples.

£36.00 from BT for dialup? Are you sure you have that correct as that seems very expensive. Surely they have a cheaper alternative as there broadband isnt that much. Is it because dial up isnt used as much these days?

Yes dial-up prices do not make much sense. They can often be more expensive than broadband. Not sure why anyone would go with dial-up over broadband except for the reasons mentioned above.

I think a lot of it could be infrastructure. I have a friend in the US who tells me that AOL still has a lot of dial-up customers and they pay twice as much for dial-up as a lot of people pay for Broadband.
You would think with prices coming down that dial-up prices would get less expensive. Especially considering they still get charges for the phone lines themselves as well.

I guess. it still sounds like a lot. It seems like someone should have it for a few pounds.

VIRGIN BROADBAND IS A JOKE, AND SO IS THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I MOVED OUT OF MY HOUSE, CANCELED THE BROADBAND, RE DIRECTED MY MAIL AND 6 MONTHS LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER AT MY NEW HOUSE FROM A CREDIT AGENCY DEMANDING £71, ABSOLUTE DISGRACE! THEY WERENT MUCH HELP EITHER WHEN I PHONED THEM, CHARGED ME ANOTHER £17.99 TO CANCEL, EVEN ALTHOUGH THEY KNEW I HAD NOT USED IT IN 6 MONTHS, SEEMS TOUGH THAT I NEVER CANCELED, MAYBE IM GOING MAD AND MAKING UP THINGS!! IDIOTS!
STAY WELL CLEAR OF VIRGIN!!!!
