This is another provider who is up for the ISPA awards.

Their lowend package is only £15.31 monthly. It is called ZenADSL 250.

What is a contention ratio? I wonder what makes them different or better than any other provider?

I think contention ratio relates to their overselling policies.

If they have 1 gig of upstream bandwidth, they will only sell 50 gigs of bandwidth to customers. Since customers do not use all their bandwidth at the same time it works out okay. I do not know if 50:1 is good or not, they seem to be claiming it is.

A quick search for contention ratio in google got this:

With most broadband technologies, some of the bandwidth is shared between other users. For example, if the service is contended or oversubscribed at 20:1, it means that you share the bandwidth with up to 19 other users. Basic ADSL services in the UK (mainly using the BT network) typically have a contention ratio of 50:1 with the more expensive or business packages having 20:1.

Hey i have worked for ISp's and if you ask me the contention Ratio that is offered by any company is not what they actually have.

Most of them oversell infact all of them.

The best option would be if you are concerned about the contention ratio is to go for a business line but that would not be cheap.
