When I first had broadband installed in this house the phone line was in someone elses name and we were getting the 1mb connection that we were paying for
That person moved out and i had a new phone line put in, in my name and since then we now only get a 512kb connection on a good day
I put this down to a poorly routed line from BT (as thats what virgin told me) and the line attenuation supported this (as its 60.5db)
However, last night i was lookin at a site that said that for a line attenuation of 60 i should be getting a 1.5mb connection (or upto)
and when i do a speed test, i use the london server (as its recommended) and the site tells me that i am in fact less than 50miles away from london, when i live near liverpool over 200 miles away from london

would this be causing me speed problems as i dont fully understand the technical details of broadband internet
