my lap top is running windows 2000. my desktop is running windows xp professional. I am connected to virgin. I have bought a “Netgear wireless router” My virgin modem goes to the router and I can get on the net like this (althouhg it is very slow) , but I can’t get my laptop to work on the net at all. Can anyone help me set it all up step by step as i am really stupid and don’t know all of the termonology for parts to go to ports and also the set up on my lap top maybe wrong. does your desktop have a wireless interface card installed if not that might be your problem

In order to use internet on desktop,U must have ”wireless desktop card” installed on your desktop.

if it has wireless capabilities on your laptop, then you just connect using the wirless connection by switching on the router, waiting for it to connect, then there should be a password or WEP key on or with the modem, find it and connect to that network. make sure the CAPITAL letters are the same as on the KEY/code
