I bought a laptop couple of month ago and internet connection has been great. Then all of a sudden in last couple of days it has started running really slow and I can think of any reason why. Do I need to download an application or is there another solution?

Have you called your ISP? Maybe it’s them.

You could try the following test:-
http://speedtester.bt.com/
If it isnt your internet connection then I would download tune up utiltiies from http://www.download.com for a 30 day free trial, this will check everything on your computer for you.
Try using another laptop that is almost new or have little programs install.
If the laptop connects well, it means some programs or virus is slowing your computer down.Sometimes the best way is to format. But first verify that your signal strength is good or excellent.
Disconnect from wireless and connect using your LAN cables. if the LAN connection is good change your wireless network card or use external wireless card.
Your available bandwidth is oversubscribed.
Lots of people “share” your connection.
As more people use it your individual speed slows down as capacity is reached!
