I am thinking about changing broadband provider from virfin Media to BT, but I want internet that is always on, not one which you have to log in to each time you wish to use it. Does BT Broadband allow you to do this?

Leave the router/modem plugged in a switched on, then yes.

You sign in once on your router / modem and then never again.
It uses PPPoA. If you have a USB “modem” you have to connect each time. It takes seconds. If you have a router it is always on.
