Question by Jonny: What’s the best deal for mobile broadband (laptop) when going to France for a week?
I’m off to France for a week on Friday and need access to the internet whilst i’m out there. What’s the best (and cheapest) way to get mobile broadband for when i’m travelling about?

You`ll need a Dongle which are around £30 from 3 broadband and the sign up for Pay as you go. You can then decide how much your`e willing or need to spend. I suggest that for such a short time you will be much better off using an internet cafe. These charge about £1 per half hour.

Hi Jonny,
Before moving to Switzerland, I lived in France for 3 years and I used an Orange SIM card and Orange prepaid ‘mobicarte’ to access the internet. You can buy the SIM card and prepaid mobicarte from most newsagents, tobacconists and supermarkets.
The Orange SIM card costs 15€ and the Orange prepaid mobicarte costs 15€. The 15€ prepaid mobicarte will last for 2 months of internet use, although mobicartes can be bought in values of 5€, 10€, 15€, 25€, 35€, 50€, 75€ or 100€.
The prepaid mobicarte is used to access Orange’s Internet Max service and it costs 9€ for one month’s service, with a limit of 500 MB per month. I recommend that you don’t exceed the 500 MB because the cost per MB in excess of 500 MB is punitive and will soon drain the prepaid mobicarte.
You can use the Internet Max service to access internet and web based email like Yahoo!, Hotmail and Windows Live.
When you have inserted your Orange SIM card in France, you simply dial #123# and select the Internet Max option for 9€. The prepaid mobicarte balance will drop by 9€ and you now have one month internet access on your phone. Use the phone as your modem for the laptop and, Voila! – mobile broadband in France for a month.
Enjoy France

go to http://www.thelink.co.uk and check out their great deals. I got an advent 4211-c and a vodafone 1gb/pm contract with mobile broadband for just £20 a month. That is a great deal…
