What is the easiest solution in sharing broadband connection between 2 computers?
Question by Gar: What is the easiest solution in sharing broadband connection between 2 computers?
I share a house with other tennants but we are trying to find the best way in getting broadband in between 2 computers both being in our own rooms. Obviously our rooms are kept private and thus it doesnt make sense to use one computer as the main one because either person may be not in the house. Living in Dublin there is a broad range of different broadband packages but I am unsure which one will allow for the use of two computers so we can also share the cost between us.

You need a router, like a liknsys wireless-G
Give your answer to this question below!

You can use a router. If you want a wireless internet connction, you may want to use D-Link DI-624 AirPlus Xtreme G.
+ A wireless Internet router.
Use the Linksys WRT54G Router with Wireless Capabilites and hook it up to the modem, then buy individual Wireless Cards for each computer.
we use wireless broadband,,the best by far
wifi bt yahoo can do it you can have upto ten on it
either use a lan, and drill a few small holes, and clip the cable to the skirting board. advantage100 megs per second…
wireless bb is limited to 56 megs? so its a whole lot slower, and if youve got a radiating antennae, whats to stop your neighbours getting a freebie, or crims parking outside and hacking you.
at least the Lan option is very cheap. 1 router, and a couple of rg45 cables which are around five quid for 30 metres…and it hasnt gone wrong since i installed it 4 years ago.
just buy a router. if the house is newish (built from the 60′s onwards) then go for wireless. if not, hard wire may be an option (this happened in my house, damn brick walls weakened the wireless signal)
A broadband package with a wireless router sounds the best way to go. No drilling holes or cabling and up to 20 computers can share an internet connection. Remember the motto, made immortal by a certain Dublin-brewed delicacy, “Where one can do it, toucan do it better!”
A router. I recommend getting a Linksys. If you own the equipment, and they pay the RENT, then you might consider going Wireless and get them to buy the wireless adapter for their end.
