Ministers say faster broadband is essential to help businesses work over the Internet and keep Britain as a leading online economy.
“The case for a public intervention at this time is weak at best,” Caio said. “There is little evidence in the short term the UK is going to suffer from the lack of an extensive next generation access network.”

Why should we all pay for companies to have Broadband – becasue that is what it would boil down to – the taxpayer footing the bill.
What do you think? Answer below!
I am not a really political person, but I think this sux. It is the businesses that keeps this country on top of the world…and since the tax does not go for internet, where does it go? It’s not going to the poor to help with heating this winter…it’s not going to wages for the teachers/nurses etc…so just where is it going?
I would really prefer they do this, it’s in my opinion a good thing…or at least show where my taxes would be better off…
If capitalism is so good let it meet its own bills.
Screw the businesses (they generally screw us), they can sort my broadband out first.
