What broadband is better Virgin Broadband OR Sky Broadband?
Question by Paul: What broadband is better Virgin Broadband OR Sky Broadband?
Right now I am on Virgin up to 10MB Broadband paying £20 a month.
Is Sky broadband as good as or better than virgin broadband considering I would like to keep in the same price range of £20 a month. I also have Sky TV. What are you guys opinions?

If you change over from fibre optic to ADSL broadband you will see a dramatic drop in your internet speed for a start. Also if you haven’t already got one you will have to have a phone line put it.
Personally I can’t see the point of having one service from one company and another from someone else, but that is just me. I have 20 Mb/s broadband, XL TV and the phone from Virgin.
Your biggest problem is going to be, if you do decide to switch, is exactly how far you are away from the nearest available exchange. The further away you are and depending how heavily the exchange is subscribed to, the slower your speed is going to be!
What ever Sky are saying your going to get, you can halve that straight away because no provider including BT can guarantee any ADSL speed.
Ultimately virgin will always be the better option for service. Their fibre optic network means that you’ll actually get the speeds you’re paying for as opposed to all the others who ‘piggyback’ the BT network.
Keep an eye on the offers and use quid-co to get money off or cash back offers when selecting a new service – prices will come down as virgin will be rolling out 100MB broadband by the end of the year
