ok so i have a bt basic line, and i’ve just found out i cant get o2 broadband on that as they need full access to the phone line!!?? does anyone know if any other providers can give me broadband on a bt basic line (previously known as light user)? (i know i can get bt broadband but there prices are rather pricey!!) any help would be great. thanks!

No you have got to have a fully operational phone line ie you will have to come off of the light user package.
That why you can only use BT broadband.
After all they’re not going to allow you to use someone else’s services whilst your using their minimum service, are they?

Hi, you can go with any provider you like if you are Getting BT Basic..The best provider seems to be Plusnet £6.49 p/m!!
I have a BT supplied ADSL micro filter which allows the incoming line to be split into a phone line and a DSL line. This means I can use the phone and go on line at the same time. I have BT combine phone (option 3) & broadband package (option 1) which cost about £32 a month. The broadband has recently been upgrades from 8m to 20m, however I only get about 3.7m but BT assure me it will be full speed once engineers have been in the area. I wont be holding my breath!
Is that the bt pay and go line? if so then no internet provider will give you broadband on that line, i dont see whats stopping them though as the broadband will still work if the phone isnt capable of making and reciving outgoing and incoming calls.
