Yes, although I could not think of any reason for splitting your suppliers, as whichever way you look at it you get a better deal with a bundle.

Stevan and Alan are absolutely correct you only pay line rental once to which ever service provider you get the service from. But I do not agree with them when they say you will get the best deal through a bundle from one provider. I get my land line from one provider and my broadband from another as by doing that I get the best service for both services. Also I now have a digital phone which operates through my broadband which gives me a deal that is not matched by any other service provider, so my normal land line phone is for incoming calls only.
No you don’t to pay line rental twice, you rent a phone line from an operator and you can have broadband passed over that line by the same or a different operator and you would have to pay for the broadband connection but normally the best deal comes from having all services from one operator not a mixture. You can also have problems with maintenance i you use different operators as they usually blame each other for any problems and you are left in the middle without service.
Line rental is payment for ,maintenance of the physical line that connects your phone to the telephone exchange. You only pay it once to your telephone supplier.Broadband just uses that same telephone line to supply it’s service to your computer.
