Best and fastest solution is to buy an NIC and install it.
What do you think? Answer below!

Most modern Broadband modems also include a USB jack
for which you will need a cord. If you don’t have one, you can look for one. Tell the people at Bestbuy what type of Modem you have. This way you will be able to have Broadband on your desktop.
If your modem does not have a usb jack you can get the same results with a Ethernet to USB adapter

you could also stick in a network card into your computer, they are inexpensive and is the best solution if you have an open slot.

you need an ethernet port’ or an adapter
How to install the router:
1. Plug the ethernet cable coming from your modem into the internet port of the router.
2. Take another ethernet cable, plug it into the ethernet port of your computer and then plug into one of the 4 remaining LAN ports on the router.
3. Make sure the computer is set to obtain an ip address automatically.
Right click on network adapter, select properties, double click on internet tcp/ip and make sure it is set to obtain an ip address automatically.
4. Unplug the power from the modem, router and shut down the computer.
5. After a minute or so, plug in the modem, 30 seconds later, plug in the router and 30 seconds later restart the computer.
6. When the computer comes back up, click on Internet Explorer and run the setup wizard.
If the setup wizard does not come up, check to see if the computer gets an ip address from the router.
How to check the ip address:
Go to start, run, type cmd, hit ok, at the flashing cursor type ipconfig. You will get an ip address, subnet mask and default gateway (router). For example,
192.168.1.2
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
Type the ip address of the default gateway (router) into the internet explorer address bar and hit enter.

Simpliest way if you don’t have a wireless router.
If you have no wifi receiver either, you can buy one cheaply around $30 /£25 that would just fit into a usb port. or you could buy a PC card with the Ethernet port on, but that mite be a little bit more expensive and you would have to open up your tower and put it into the motherboard.
Is it a wireless router?
If so, you can buy a USB wireless dongle which makes your PC wireless like the laptop for about £30
