Q&A: Broadband connection – how to do it on hard drive replacement?
Question by Zebidee: Broadband connection – how to do it on hard drive replacement?
I am currently on Virgin Broadband via a router. I am told that I will have my hard drive replaced and mother board too next week . I am currently on Virgin Broadband via a router. Will connecting the cables back to my PC automatically pick up my cable Broadband connection or does it have to be set up. I have no disk for this and don’t know where to start.
Any advice would be most welcome.
I telephoned the Virgin technical help line at 25p per minute but the girl was obviously based in Asia and communication was difficult and unsatisfactory both in language understanding and line quality.

you might wanna contact the tech support but this time use email on online chat support. they are far easier. specially the chat.

with saying you’re having your hard drive and mother board replaced then wouldn’t it be easier to purchase a new pc with all the ‘disc’.
Only joshing…ho..ho..
Anyway.if your modems set up then, hopefully, the pc will pick up the required configurations.
If not then just get your hands on another virgin disc, from your local supermarket, and re-install it.
Cancel your DD for your old account and start again.
You will only need to connect the machine and it will work, the network wizard can be used to simply tell the machine to connect through a gateway. All the real configuration is already done on the router.
