Alot of the advertisements are misleading with low prices which don’t include essential costs of line rental. I am after a basic reliable broadband with a basic phone line.

You`re going to be struggling to find a package for that I think. You could look into Plusnet, which were actually bought by BT a couple of years ago, on the link below;

However the cheapest are rarely the best, and they have not been about that long really, so we do not know much about them, but might be worth a look.
The price of their telephone calls or other things may be a little higher to defray costs, maybe, suggest you check before buying.
Their cheapest broadband plus line rental works out at just under £20 though.
The thought crossed my mind that you may be a Plusnet salesman looking for a reaction for a bit of cheap publicity!
