Is there a way of avoiding paying a landline connection fee when getting broadband?
Question by adacam: Is there a way of avoiding paying a landline connection fee when getting broadband?
I’ve just moved into a new flat, and I need to get broadband. The phone line is out of use (there’s no dial tone), but I know the last people here were online.
Am I going to need to pay a hefty re-connection fee, or is there a way around it? Will getting broadband with BT themselves make any difference?

If you have a laptop with wifi try mooching off your neighbours for free
What do you think? Answer below!

well you are left with two options pay through the nose and get a land line or the virgin system as long as there is a optical fibre or some other line in an near street ask in store for this.
there is mobile broadband that does not need any kind of line but you would have to check to see if the GSM mast is near.
this is a dongle and can be pay as you go or on a contract.
well you can ask the telephone company to weave the reconnection charge. its down to them there is no way around it.. you could try and haggle over the price.
you will have pay bt for a connection, a dongle mobile broadband mite b a better and cheaper idea, although i do think u should look into sky, talk talk etc as they sumtimes offer deals
You will have to pay a fee since phoneline is already in it won’t be much. The people before you probably had the phone turned off when they moved.
Do it on Virgin cable. You get the phone, broadband and TV all in one package.
No. BT have taken the fuse out at the exchange and charge you a reconnection fee for plugging it back in again. See if Virgin is any cheaper – they lie less about bandwidth.
