That is really a hard situation. First of all, you can have 2 Routers from different Companies such as your BT and Net Gear. Unfortunately, you need to install the box on 2 DIFFERENT Computers. So, If you had a LAPTOP and a DESKTOP (PC) it would work for you. If you have ONE Computer, it wont.
Try using a SpeedTest and run several Disk Cleanups to increase your signal.

I currently have a BT phone line and my brother is switching from O2 broadband to Virgin Broadband, will I be able to take up an O2 broadband service as well as my brother signing up to Virgin Broadband and use the same phone line??
You can have as many as you like but the cheapest option would be doing this
Having broadband through your phone line via BT and get virgin media broadband in , that way you would have broadband from virgin and from BT , this would be the cheapest option.
If you want to have 2 BT broadband connections, or say 1 BT connection and 1 o2 broadband connection (both are via phone lines) then you will have to get BT (and pay £125) to send an engineer around to install an additional phone line with a seperate number then get broadband on the new line, as you can only have one broadband provider on one phone line.
So the best option to do would be , Order virgin and keep it alongside the BT broadband or Switch providers to one like sky or o2 , i worked for sky and used it and it was good, but i am using o2 broadband now and it is fantastic.
You can only have one ADSL service on a phone line, if you want more than one, you will need another phone line.
You can however connect multiple units to the same modem using a router.
well you can have 2 routers connected together, but that will not help.. you just need rip out that crap bt homehub and install a proper router like netgear/linksys router. since these give better range of wifi service. how to increase wifi range.
