the pcmia slot doesnt work either. i have an old laptop that i think should be able to connect to my broadband if i use linux DSL, but i dont know if i can phisically connect it. at the moment i have an external modem that plugs into a parallel type port for dial up.

If it has a PCMCIA card slot you may be able to find a card with an RJ-45port on it – an Ethernet port.

If its got an rj45 wire it in. the pcmcia may be the old version, not carbus so sourcing an old ethernet adapter may work
