You will probably have to purchase the additional wireless adapter. However, it’s possible to negotiate a discount since you will most likely have to sign a contract. I have friends who use Verizon bcoz of it’s wide range of coverage. Sprint is good also.

Be very careful, I got stung on one of these deals. It’s not just “downloading” – everytime a page opens it downloads info to show you, which I didn’t realise. If you watch You Tube, you’re not downloading, you’re streaming, but it goes against your download allowance. Emails with pictures were my big downfall, Amazon and other shops sending me emails with large picture files, and browsing internet sites with images which most pages now have. I got stung with a massive bill, and hadn’t actually “downloaded” anything at all! (or so I thought)
The first answer must be from an American, but it seems to me you’re British like me. You’re best bet may be linked to a landline, like BT or Virgin who do doggles with the package, and also have family packages which should provide you with more than one.
BT have wireless hotspots so you don’t actually need a usb/dongle to connect, places like Cafe Nero operate it so all you need is your laptop. O2 also do something similar with their home package, they may be worth a look.
However, it does very much depend on the area where you live. I couldn’t get many of the deals advertised in my area. But you obviously have the internet so you can search for yourself, and will know your postcode, without that any advice can only be general, also deals change all the time so what’s on offer today my be different tomorrow.
Most mobile USB/dongles only offer 3 MBs my provider told me that was massive, but it wasn’t enough just to check email daily and do my weekly shop online, which I think is minimal use. I would advise at least 10MB to allow for images etc as I have explained.
I hope this helps.
