If I buy a second-hand computer can I still use my existing broadband connection?
Question by marcoporres: If I buy a second-hand computer can I still use my existing broadband connection?
I am using BT broadband and would like to install it in a new computer. Do I simply plug it in or do I have to start all over again waiting on BT to connect me?

If your new computer has an Ethernet slot, a CD/DVD drive and you have an installation CD you should be Up and away.
No you wont have to wait for them to connect you as your all ready connected, you won’t (unless you want the bt software) even need the cd, just plug in your ethernet cable and your away. hope this helps, need more info just ask.
DON’T install any disk! (The “router” programs cause more problems than they cure, considering all the questions here).
Connect the computer’s Ethernet port to the BT modem (“home hub”) – it should connect without your doing anything else. If you need help setting up email, etc., call tech support.
Yes if its an ethernet connection just plug it in and it will work. Unless you require software that needs to be activated there is no reason you wouldn’t be able to install it and still get your broadband.
You will probably have to install the BT software either from disc or download , other than that no other worries
