You probably need to set up either the modem or router to be wireless. But you also need something on the laptop. For example, a USB wireless dongle to be able to recieve the wireless signal

You need to buy a router which you attach to the modem and turn on the wireless card on your laptop. If you have the Bt home hub its already got the router built-in
Do you have a wireless router nearby? if not, you wont be able to connect. if you havent already, make sure the wireless switch is turned on if you have it and check your wireless options (theres a symbol with 2 computers and wither a globe or a “X” if you’re on vista) you have to enter a few codes depending on wether or not the network you;re trying to connect to is secure
