You should be able to stick a wifi in the pc downstairs or get a bt HUB which will work anywhere in the house. You could always network them
What do you think? Answer below!
Presuming that your new PC is wireless enabled (which it should be if it is new) you need to connect it to your modem using an ethernet cable. Once you have done this go to the internet and look up the website of your router manufacturer. Find your router and follow the set-up instructions for wireless setup. This is very easy to do and a lot of it is already done for you. Once you have completed this you can unplug the ethernet cable and you now have wireless connection. Good luck.
you need a wireless network interface card ..to be inserted in your new pc’s PCI slot ..install drivers and configure wireless router and your wireless interface card ..you don’t have to plug anything in your old one.
The upstairs pc needs a wireless network interface card, properly configured.
This assumes you are in range of the wireless access point and this may be an invalid assumption. Wireless signal does not penetrate masonry, metal (e.g. ducts and mirrors), and other dense material. There are distance limits as well.
Sometimes you can relocate your wireless access point so you can reach all LAN devices.
When you initially configure your desktop be in the same room as the wireless access point and in direct line of sight with it. Once it works when close to the access point, you know that all configuration steps are accurate. If you now move to the upstairs and the connection does not establish itself you know you have a distance or interference issue to resolve.
You will need to set up a network connection (which can be either wired or wireless)
Basically to do this both computers need to have a wireless card or there needs to be a router.
I would say you are better going to a computer shop and getting them to help you so you get the best options for your needs
If you have a wireless router downstairs then all you need is a wireless card or USB dongle for your PC upstairs. If you’re not happy about opening up your PC to add a new card then just go for the USB wifi dongle solution.
You will then need to follow the instructions for your wireless router to implement the wireless password on your upstairs PC.
i got a wireless reciever formy old pc upstairs. it just plugs into the usb port and you can connect to the wireless router
