I live about 1 and a half miles from my telephone exchange and I’ve been told i can only get 1 MB download speed. How close do you have to be to get faster speeds and also how far away is everyone else and what kind of speeds do you get?

for the top speeds really you need to be within half a mile.
1mb does seem rubbish to say your 1 and a half miles away. i live 3 and a quarter from mine and i get 2.5 mb

600 yards and I get 8mb
they do say that to get maximum advertised speed you would have to sleep in the exchange
You may live 1.5 miles from the CO, but the cables may not take a direct route to reach you. The cables may be longer.
