How can I stop BT broadband from turning on automatically when I want to work off-line.?
Question by linda a: How can I stop BT broadband from turning on automatically when I want to work off-line.?
Broadband is set to come on when I turn computer on, that’s fine. BUT when I want to work off-line and select the ‘yes’ option it turns itself back on again after a few seconds. This is important as we still have a limited time package.
Is there any way that I can prevent this happening? ‘Idiots Guide’ please!

I’m not sure on how to do it, but I guess there may be a way to change the default network connection. Consult Google for details.
Do you mean a limited time or bandwidth package. I don’t think there is a limited time on Broadband connection. Why don’t you just call BT and change to one of their new wireless price plans!
Is the Connection icon in the task bar? Do a right hand click on it and click disable.
If it’s not there > Start > Settings > Network Connections > Highlight your Connection > File > Properties > On the first page tick the “Show the icon in the task bar”.
A tip on what I have done is, when your in Network Connections is do a right hand click on the icon and click create shortcut. It will tell you it can only put it on the desktop. Do this twice to put two icons on the desk top.
Now go into Explore > Desktop > and drag one of the icons onto the Start Menu. Come out and the effect is you have one connection on the desk top and the other on the start menu. You can rename them both what you like.
So now if you have nothing on the desk top you can activate or deactivate the connection, or if your working on something you can do the same thing using the one on the start menu.
Sounds complicated but will take about three minutes to do, but like most things takes longer to explain than actually to do it!
