Hook directly to your router (plug in the cable to the side, type in its address in internet explorer, you will get a “set up page” type in your password and set up WEP/WAP security. Your router instruction book will have the address (like 192.168.1.1) and the password (like admin)
go to your routers homepage usually found by typing in 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in internet explorer
then find something that says security and click it
then you are looking for something that says enable wep protection
this should create a hexidecimal pass key (or on some souters you can choose to use a passphrase and type in a word as the password) (make a note of it)
then enable the security
when you try to connect with your computer to the wireless network it will ask for this pass key. type it in
