Iv had BT Broadband for 5 years and when i first got it my speed was always 5.5MB Download , 5 years laters and when i do test now it comes out at 3.5MB
This is a shocking drop in speed since i use to get 5.5MB . Is there anyone i can write to and get this sorted ? Ill be happy to pay £100 month to get my speed back to 5.5MB again . Anyone had this with there broadband and had it fixed ?

For a start your speed has got much slower due to either more users on the exchange or your ISP has capped your speed as you download too much for their liking. Secondly BT are bringing out a handy little wall-plug in(BT i-plate) that cuts out electrical interference and boosts connection by 1.5MBps. Your download speed depends on the path from you to the server you’re downloading from, and the server’s connection to the internet. Your connection speed is the maximum speed you can get, not the download speed you always get – BT has no control over that.
Well depending on how many people using sharing your line could be the problem.You could call and ask how much MB you are suppose to get.when you find out,then call them on why you don’t get what you pay for.
