Do I have to remove it before I shut the computer down. I have been doing but thought it might be easier to leave it in as long as it doesn’t damage it.

seriously though…. did the directions that came with the USB adapter tell you that you had to remove it before you shut down? No. So no. You don’t have to remove it. Enjoy the extra 45 seconds of free time in your life!

The smartass above is right. But maybe some more useful info..
Anything that is connected via USB to your computer will be powered down whenever your computer is off, unless it has an external power supply. But your usb wi-fi adapter does not. Think of your usb wi-fi adapter as the same thing as a cable… when your computer is off, there is no connectivity or power occuring.
