Does sharing a Virgin media broadband connection with the media box reduce internet speed?
Question by Private: Does sharing a Virgin media broadband connection with the media box reduce internet speed?
Lately,my internet speed has become incredibly slow.
I can’t be sure but it could possibly coincide with the fitting of a VM tv box sharing the same line from a splitter.
Please only answer if you know.

Do you mean if there are two people browsing the internet at the same time? Then yes, when two or more people are browsing the internet at the same time the bandwidth of the internet connection is split on your network between the different people.
If you mean you are using a phone line splitter to connect a modem and a phone at the same time then no, this should not affect the speed at which your broadband operates.
Good luck, Jamie.

No even though they are split the 2mb,10mb,20mb or 50mb will still go to your modem, the frequency for the tv and broadband are diffrent.
TV and broadband are split inside the box on your inside wall. One connection goes to the set top box and the other goes to the modem.
They shouldn’t affect each other. Have you checked the service status on the home page to see if there is any upgrading or maintenace in your area?
