Does internet on a phone contract include wireless connection from broadband?
Question by Katy-May: Does internet on a phone contract include wireless connection from broadband?
I have an iphone on contract and I get 750mb of internet but i can get a connection from my broadband hub at home.
Does this come off my allowed amount of internet or is it free (since the broadband is paid for separately)

When you use the internet on your phone when your ‘out and about’, this uses something called ’3g’ or ‘gprs’ which comes off your allowance. But when you connect to the broadband through your home, this connects through the iphones ‘wifi’ which is a seperate thing and is nothing to do with your allowance.
Give your answer to this question below!

The internet allowance on the mobile covers the 3G connection (the internet connection suppied by the network you are on, basically). WiFi is separate from this, so if you use a WiFi connection (either through your own home broadband or in a hotspot outside) is not counted.
You don’t get charged by the mobile network for this, so it is really handy to keep the allowance from going over, or if you need to download apps or something (especially the larger files). You would, however, need to keep an eye on your home broadband allowance, though, since using your phone on wifi will eat into that allowance.
It’s free – whether it’s your home wifi network or a public wifi hotspot.
Using your phone wirelessly is free as you’re not using your network. So it doesn’t affect your limit.
You are of course paying for your broadband at home like you said.
