I have just moved into a new flat. It has a BT telephone line installed already from the previous tenents. Do I have to contact BT to activate and pay them line rental even though I want to go with Sky for my broadband? Thanks.

Sky will provide your telephone service as well as your broadband if you wish. you have to have an active telephone line and pay rent to someone to have broadband with sky and they are a bit cheaper than BT

You do need an active telephone service to have Broadband. You can have this service from BT or any other provider of your choice. You can have your Broadband from any provider of your choice and it does not matter who your telephone provider is.
