My parents have BT broadband atm and now i am getting older they want me to pay and have my own internet etc is there anyway i have have another service in the same house? not sure if i needed a new phoneline or something.
say for example i wanted to join virgin media would it work?
thank you do you know of any services which do it? i am just worried if i have another internet installed it will mess up the main one in the house.

Yeah… most isp’s will lease you another IP address to the same house for use with another modem. Call the ISP, and they can set it up.

Call the ISP and ask as I’m not sure what they have available over at your part of the world. Here in New Zealand, it can be done if you join with another ISP, but you’ll need to get a seperate account and line which can be costly.
Why don’t you go HALVES with your parents and pay part of your parents broadband account? It will work better for both of you as you’ll end up paying for half the cost. You could then probably upgrade your broadband plan to a higher plan as well if you want.
It would save you money to go halves with your parents than to get a seperate broadband that’s for sure. It just seems to be a waste to me as you both may not use all that broadband as well. So unless you’re hoarding all the bandwidth and data usage, it would be better if you shared that existing broadband connection but start to pay part of it.
