I am currently with Virgin Media and paying £25 a month for 4MB broadband. We are using cable as we do not have, and don’t want, a landline. Can anyone recommend a cheap, fast cable broadband that if possible comes with a TV package where you don’t need a landline?

Virgin is the only company that do cable. Any other ISP you use you are required to have a BT phoneline for which you will have to pay line rental for. BT are the only ones who can put the line in and that would cost you about £125.
So the truth is, either stay with Virgin or have a phone line. Even with Sky TV you are required to have a phone line connected to their TV top set box for the first year.
I think you will find that you can’t access broadband through a cable companies telephone line, you’ll need a BT line

Get the Sky package, thats what i did and you get the full monty (apart from films & sport which is optional if you fancy a flick one night just pay a one off for a box office movie) then you can disregard all the other people like BT, Tiscali etc etc and it’s cheaper and easier to manage.
