Coverage Of Mobile Broadband

Mobile Broadband Coverage

We all have experienced not have a signal because we have gone outside of our cell phones coverage area. The coverage area of most service providers depend on the number of transmission towers they have. Each tower will provide coverage for a certain amount of the area around it. Some of the service providers with more towers not only will have a larger coverage area, but sometimes the coverage area will overlap the coverage area of another tower just a little so there is no service drop off in that area.

When looking for a service provider for your cell phone or your mobile broadband connection you will want to look at their coverage area map to see how much of the area around or the places you go are covered. This way you know where you go you will receive a signal, which will enable the mobile broadband to access the Internet and the Internet will work without any glitches.

Rural areas in most places are the most difficult in getting a service provider who has coverage in your area. As long as you live in an urban area you won’t have a problem. All of the major metropolitan cities in the country will all receive good signals no matter what service provider you decide on. You should not have a problem receiving a signal if you live in the suburb of a large city.

This year you will hear a lot about increased coverage areas from some of the service providers. Just as an example, one service provider using HSDPA network has increased their coverage 162 major markets, which include 70 of he country’s top 100 cities. By the middle of 2007, the service provider expected to be in all of the top 100 cities, and they expect the expansion to continue.

Another service provider has worked at expanding its coverage area this year in several locations. At one time their use of the EvDO nework had covered more than 200 million people and was providing service in over 220 major metropolitan markets. Right now their EvDO Revision A is concentrated in airports and business districts. These are the areas where the demand for wireless data is extremely high and will soon expand to include all the market.

Another service provider also using the EvDO network has coverage for more than 200 million people. They also provide coverage in more than 223 major cities as well as over 140 major airports. This service provider will be going back and providing the same type of coverage to areas around the major cities.

All of these service providers are increase their coverage area in an effort to encourage more customers to use their service for the mobile broadband needs. Because not matter what expansion are being done right now to the service area covered by these service providers, there are still areas lacking in coverage. This is the reason it is so important to check the coverage area of the service provider you are looking at for your mobile broadband service.
